After two years of contract consulting for Broadcast Interactive Media (BIM), Derek officially joined the company in 2005. As Senior Vice President of Technology, he works with the Product VPs, Directors and Development staff in delivering new products, enhancing existing products and integrating beneficial technology to all product lines.

Derek’s other responsibilities include overseeing the launch of new web properties, support for existing web clients, and executing the implementation of new BIM technology, such as YouNews™ and BIMVid. Derek also remains the driving force of the Content Management System (CMS) template architecture.

Derek’s leadership and focused approach has allowed BIM to thrive in the turbulent broadcast industry, while still satisfying a large and diverse client base. Derek has guided his team in pioneering several video technologies, building an extensive portfolio of ad serving partners and integrating a host of third-party technologies to the BIM system.

Formerly, Derek was lead programmer at TAP Media, a Milwaukee-based advertising firm that created syndicated marketing solution programs. He has a degree in Visual Communications from Madison Area Technical College and course work in Radio-Film-TV from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. More recently, he delivered a “project management” presentation at BarCamp Madison, a user-generated tech conference.
