BIM Integrates MediaStar 3.0 Program Schedule Data with Harris Corporation’s OSi-Traffic™
MADISON, WI / PORTLAND, OR – April 5, 2012 – Broadcast Interactive Media (BIM), a best-in-class provider of vital data services, today announced the integration of BIM’s MediaStar Suite of program management tools with the Harris® OSi-Traffic™ media software solution.# # #
By using the BXF (Broadcast Exchange Format) data-exchange and messaging standard, MediaStar Suite’s core scheduling tool, MediaStar 3.0 and OSi-Traffic have linked the two systems at a transactional level. This type of functionality enables scheduling and traffic to share program data in real-time, and eliminates the need for broadcasters to enter and maintain scheduling in two separate systems.
Gray Television, Inc., which currently uses both the MediaStar Suite and OSi-Traffic™, will be one of the first groups to pilot the integrated environments. Chris Schwieterman, Corporate Traffic Manager at Gray comments, “The MediaStar team has always been responsive to our stations’ needs and continually delivers functional solutions that improve upon our ability to manage program schedules. As a broadcast group that uses MediaStar 3.0 to manage every one of our channel lineups, we look forward to seeing their system integrated with other broadcast platforms.”
The integration will remain virtually invisible to broadcasters, except for the new consistency of program data between the systems. Within MediaStar 3.0, stations will be able to use the “Publish” feature to send program schedules to the OSi-Traffic server, while simultaneously sending the same information to their PSIP generator, TitanTV program guide and other MediaStar Suite products.
"BIM is very excited to combine the muscle of our MediaStar Suite with the authority of the Harris OSi-Traffic system," remarked Mick Rinehart, SVP of Product Development and Data Services. "Broadcasters are increasingly seeking management solutions that work together and improve the flow of their operations. By working with Harris, we are offering our shared customers a more efficient approach to their scheduling process.”
BIM and Harris recently previewed the dynamic workflow solution to a select group of broadcasters at the Harris Media Users Conference this past February.
